A personalized name keychain does one simple job: it tells everyone whose backpack, sports bag or set of keys this is. Ours spells out one name in big, chunky letters inside a raised border, with a ring tab for clipping it on. It costs $8, takes up to 20 characters, and comes in the letter and border colors you choose.
This post is for parents labeling school and team bags, coaches ordering for a whole roster, and anyone who wants a small gift with someone's name on it. It covers how to type the name so it prints right, how to pick colors, what a team order costs, and when to order before Christmas. The one thing to get right is the spelling: we print the name exactly as you type it, so check it letter by letter before you add it to the cart.
What Our Personalized Name Keychain Is
Our Name Keychain is a one-piece print in premium PLA. The name sits in big, chunky letters, a raised outline border runs around it, and a ring tab takes the ring. There is one style and one price, $8, whatever the name.
It is not a flexi toy. Most of what we sell is articulated and bends at the joints; the Name Keychain is a solid nameplate. If you want something that moves, pair it with a flexi keychain, which we cover further down.
Who it suits. Children who need to spot their bag in a pile, teams whose bags all look the same, and adults who like a set of keys that is clearly theirs. It is also a quick personal gift for someone whose name you know but whose favorite animal you do not.
How to Type the Name for Your Personalized Name Keychain
On the product page there is a box labeled Name to print, just above Add to cart. Whatever you type there is what we print. A few habits make the result come out the way you pictured it.
Capitals print as typed. "Ava" prints as Ava, "AVA" prints in all capitals, and "ava" prints in lowercase. Most people want the first letter capitalized and the rest lowercase.
Twenty characters is the limit. Spaces and punctuation count toward it. "Mrs. Garcia" is 11 characters. A first and last name together often fits, but a long double-barreled name may not, so count before you type.
Check unusual spellings twice. Kaitlyn, Caitlin and Katelyn are all common. If you are ordering for someone else's child, ask the parent or copy the name from something the child wrote.
Nicknames and numbers work too. A team bag might say "Jake 12" or a nickname the player goes by. As long as it fits in 20 characters, we print it.
We do not correct spelling, because a name that looks wrong to us may be exactly right for the person. Read the box once more before you press Add to cart.
Choosing Colors for a Personalized Name Keychain
The Name Keychain has two parts to color: the letters and the border. Type both in the Custom color box on the product page, for example "white letters, navy border". Color does not change the price.
Contrast makes the name readable. Light letters on a dark border, or dark letters on a light border, can be read from across a room. Two similar shades, such as red on orange, blur together.
Team and school colors are the most common request. Give us the two colors and say which goes where.
Styles we have already printed are listed on the product page: white letters with red baseball stitching inside a red or navy border, cow print letters in hot pink, and green letters on a black border. You can ask for any of those by name.
If a color is out of stock when we print, we message you with the closest match.
Where a Name Keychain Earns Its Keep
A name keychain is most useful anywhere several bags or sets of keys look alike.
School backpacks. Clip it to a zipper pull or the loop at the top of the bag. It helps at the coat hooks and the bus stop, and it helps a substitute teacher match a bag to a child.
Sports and dance bags. Team bags are often identical by design. A name in the team colors sorts them out on the bench without a marker pen.
Lunchboxes and water bottle loops. Anything with a loop or handle can take the ring.
Keys and lanyards. For adults, a name keychain marks a shared set of keys or an ID lanyard at work.
One caution: like everything we print, it is PLA, which softens above about 140°F. A bag left in a parked car in a Texas summer can get hot enough to warp it, so bring the bag inside. It is also not a chew toy, so keep it away from pets.
Ordering a Personalized Name Keychain for a Whole Team
Coaches and team parents often want one keychain per player. Each name needs its own cart line, because each one has its own Name to print box.
Add one at a time. Type the first name and the colors, add it to the cart, then change the name and add the next. Keep the colors the same on every line if you want a matched set.
Work from a written roster. Copy each name from the team list rather than from memory. That is where most misspellings start.
What it costs. Twelve players at $8 each is $96, and orders of $35 or more ship free by Economy. Five keychains, at $40, also clear the free shipping line. Four keychains come to $32, so shipping adds $3.99. A fifth name, or a $5 flexi keychain for the coach, brings the order to free shipping instead.
If your team needs a large number by a fixed date, such as a season banquet, message us before you order so we can tell you what the timing looks like.
Pairing a Name With a Flexi Keychain
A name says whose bag it is. A flexi keychain on the same ring gives the owner something to fidget with. The two together make a fuller gift without costing much.
$13: a name and a Bone T-Rex. The Bone T-Rex Keychain is $5, a small articulated skeleton with its own ring.
$15: a name and a classic keychain. Most designs in the keychains collection are $7.
$16: a name and a Mini. The Mini Cat and Mini Axolotl are about 4 inches long, $7 plain or $8 with a ring.
Matching colors tie the pair together. A Mini Axolotl in pink beside a name in pink letters reads as one set. If you would rather keep them distinct, give the animal its own color in its own Custom color box.
When to Order a Personalized Name Keychain for Christmas
Every Name Keychain is printed after you order, so allow for both printing and the mail.
Printing and checking take one to three business days. We check every letter before it ships.
Transit usually takes two to five business days, and December is slower for every carrier.
For Christmas, ordering by the end of November leaves room for the holiday mail and for a reprint if anything arrives broken.
Booth pickup. We are at Canton Trade Days October 29 to November 1 and December 3 to 6, booth 4268/4269. To collect your order there instead of having it shipped, message us before you order. Our event dates page has the full schedule.
Common Questions About Personalized Name Keychains
Do name keychains work as party favors?
Yes. Each guest gets their own name at $8. Eight guests come to $64, which ships free. Order with the party date in mind, not the week before.
Can I order several names in one order?
Yes. Add each name as its own line in the cart, each with its own Name to print box and Custom color box.
Does a longer name cost more?
No. Every Name Keychain is $8, from a three-letter name to a full 20 characters.
What if it arrives broken?
We reprint it free. Message us through our contact page and tell us what happened.
Spell It Right, Then Choose the Colors
A personalized name keychain is one of the simplest things we print, and one of the most useful. The name tells everyone whose bag it is, and the colors make it theirs.
Copy the name from something written down, type it with the capitals you want, give us a letter color and a border color with good contrast, and order by the end of November for Christmas.
At Cosmic 3D Creations, every Name Keychain is printed to order in Como, Texas, checked letter by letter, and shipped within one to three business days. Tell us the colors in the Custom color box, or message us to collect your order at our Canton Trade Days booth.
