This guide is for children who want a zoo on the bedroom floor, teachers building an animal unit, and anyone who would rather have a lion on the desk than another dragon. We print nine 3D printed zoo animals: a lion, a mini tiger, an elephant, a rhino, a hippo, two giraffes, a panda and a polar bear. Every one bends and holds a pose, and they run from a $1.00 Micro to a $24.00 giraffe that stands 8 inches tall.
Below we cover each design with the sizes and prices from its product page, then show what a full set costs at each size. If you want a matched set, start with the seven animals on the same size menu, because a Regular lion, elephant and panda all come out the same 2 inches and can be ordered together in one step.
Nine 3D Printed Zoo Animals in Our Catalog
Each animal is printed in place as a single piece of premium PLA. The joints form on the print plate with a small gap between each segment, so nothing is glued or snapped together. The animal comes off the printer already able to move.
The nine fall into three groups by how you order them.
Seven share the classic size menu. The Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Hippo, Giraffe Pocket Friend, Panda and Polar Bear each come in Micro (1 inch), Mini (1.5 inch), Regular (2 inch), Large (3 inch), X-Large (6 inch) and a Keychain size with a ring.
One giraffe has a taller menu. The standing Giraffe comes in Baby (3 inch), Regular (4 inch), Large (6 inch) and X-Large (8 inch).
One comes in a single size. The Mini Tiger is about 4 inches long, with a choice of keychain or no keychain.
Most of them are grouped in our zoo collection. The Hippo and the Rhino have their own product pages, and we cover them below.
The Big Cats: Lion and Mini Tiger
The two cats are separate designs from separate menus, so they suit different jobs.
The Lion: the classic, in six sizes
The Lion is jointed from head to tail. It bends, curls into a nap, or stretches out long and holds the pose. Micro is $1.00, Mini $1.75, Regular $2.75, Large $7.00, X-Large $15.00 and Keychain $8.00.
Golden tan is the classic color, and the lion shape reads clearly at every size on the menu, from the 1 inch Micro to the 6 inch X-Large.
The Mini Tiger: one size, two colors
The Mini Tiger is articulated from the neck through the tail. It drops into a crouch, stretches, or curls up for a nap. At about 4 inches long, it is closer to our Large size than its name suggests.
It is $7.00 on its own or $8.00 with a keychain ring. The Color menu has White and Orange, and the stripes make either one read as a tiger from across a room. You can still type a different color in the Custom color box.
Because it comes in one size, the Mini Tiger looks large beside a Regular lion. Pair it with a Large lion if you want the two cats to look like they belong together.
Elephant, Rhino and Hippo: Heavy Animals That Bend
These three look heavy, which is most of their charm. In PLA they are light, even at 6 inches, and their thick bodies make them some of the easiest pieces in the set to hold and flex.
The Elephant has the slow, graceful movement elephants are known for. It bends, curls and holds a pose, walking or resting. Gray is the traditional color.
The Rhino has the horn and the bulk of the real animal. The body bends, the head dips, and it holds a charging pose.
The Hippo has a chunky body and short legs. Bend it into a wallow, a yawn or a slow walk and it stays put.
All three are on the classic menu at the same prices: Micro $1.00, Mini $1.75, Regular $2.75, Large $7.00, X-Large $15.00 and Keychain $8.00.
Two Giraffes on Two Different Size Menus
We print two giraffes, and the difference matters when you order.
The Giraffe Pocket Friend: the classic menu
This giraffe is jointed up its long neck and through the body. It bends down to an imaginary treetop, curls its neck around, or stands straight. It uses the classic menu, from a $1.00 Micro to a $15.00 X-Large, with a $8.00 Keychain. A Regular giraffe matches a Regular lion or elephant.
The Giraffe: the tall one
The standing Giraffe is built tall and measured by height. Baby (3 inch) is $6.00, Regular (4 inch) $9.00, Large (6 inch) $14.00 and X-Large (8 inch) $24.00. The X-Large is the tallest animal in our zoo set, and it is meant for a shelf where people will see it.
The word Regular means 2 inches on one giraffe and 4 inches on the other. Read the inches in the size menu, not just the name. Our flexi toy size guide explains how each menu is measured.
Panda and Polar Bear: Two Bears, Two Climates
The Panda sits, rolls up, and holds a pose. Pandas spend most of the day sitting and eating, and this one is happy to sit on a desk the same way. It also stretches out flat when you want something to fidget with. It is on the classic menu with a $7.00 Large and an $8.00 Keychain.
The Polar Bear lumbers when you tip it forward, naps when you curl it, and stays put when you stand it up. It is on the classic menu too, but its Large is $6.00 and its Keychain is $7.00, a dollar less than most of the zoo animals.
The two bears sit well together, and a Regular of each is $5.50 for the pair.
What a Set of 3D Printed Zoo Animals Costs
The seven classic-menu animals make the easiest set, because every one comes out the same length at each size. Here is what one of each costs:
Seven Micros (1 inch) are $7.00. That is a whole zoo for a party favor bag or a pocket.
Seven Regulars (2 inch) are $19.25. This is the size for a child's play zoo on a table or a desk.
Seven Larges (3 inch) are $48.00. This is the size most people fidget with, and the joints are big enough for hard play.
Seven X-Larges (6 inch) are $105.00, for a display shelf.
Add the Mini Tiger for $7.00, or the tall Giraffe from $6.00. Economy shipping is free on orders over $35 and $3.99 below that, so the Large and X-Large sets ship free on their own. A Regular set plus a Mini Tiger and a Baby Giraffe comes to $32.25, and adding one Large animal takes the order past $35.
Colors for Zoo Animals: Real Coats or Bright
Every product page has a Custom color box above Add to cart. Type the color you want, and it costs the same as any other color. If we are out of that color when we print, we message you with the closest match before we start.
For a real-animal look, ask for golden tan for the Lion, gray for the Elephant and Rhino, and white for the Polar Bear. One plain color usually reads more like the real animal than two.
For the Panda, black and white is the obvious request. We print in one or two colors, so we cannot place the black patches exactly where a real panda has them, but a two-color print still reads as a panda.
For a child's set, give each animal its own bright color. A purple hippo and a green rhino are easy to tell apart and easy to find in a toy bin. A polar bear does not have to be white.
Common Questions About 3D Printed Zoo Animals
Are they safe for a toddler?
Regular (2 inch) and Large (3 inch) sizes are big enough for a young child to grab and flex. Micro and Mini pieces are a choking risk, so keep them away from children who still put things in their mouths, and check joints now and then on toys that see hard play.
Which zoo animal is the sturdiest?
The Hippo and the Elephant, because their thick bodies and short legs leave nothing thin to snag. The long neck on either giraffe is the part to treat gently.
Do you have a monkey, a zebra or a kangaroo?
Not right now. The nine animals in this guide are the zoo animals we print today. If you are looking for something we do not list, ask us through our contact page and we will tell you whether we can print it.
How long does an order take?
Each animal is printed after you order, inspected joint by joint and shipped in 1 to 3 business days, then the carrier's transit time is added on top.
Pick 3D Printed Zoo Animals by Where They Will Live
For a child's play zoo, start with the seven classic-menu animals at Regular or Large, in bright colors. For a desk, a Large Panda or Hippo is the most relaxing to hold. For a shelf, the X-Large Giraffe at 8 inches gives the set height, with X-Large lions and elephants around it.
Whichever you choose, check the inches in the size menu first. Our 3D printed zoo animals use three different menus, and the inches tell you how they will look side by side.
At Cosmic 3D Creations, every lion, elephant, giraffe and panda is printed to order in Como, Texas, in the colors you ask for, and flexed joint by joint before it is packed. You can order online and pick up at our Canton Trade Days booth, Booth 4268 and 4269. We are there through October 4 and back October 29 to November 1, and the rest of the dates are on our events page.
