Matching toys for siblings work best when every child can tell their piece apart at a glance and nobody feels they got the smaller share. With flexi toys there are two simple ways to do that: the same animal in a different color for each child, or a different animal for each child in one shared color. Both cost nothing extra, because every product page has a Custom color box.
This guide is for parents and grandparents buying for two or more children at once. It covers which kind of match suits which family, how to handle siblings of different ages, how to keep the prices even, and how to order a full set in one cart.
Give every child the same size and the same price, then let color or animal be the thing that is theirs.
Why Matching Toys for Siblings Head Off Arguments
Two identical toys sound fair, but they cause their own trouble. When a dragon gets left on the couch, nobody can prove whose it was. A set of matching toys for siblings needs one difference that every child can see.
Same design, same color looks identical. Our flexis are printed from the same licensed file every time, so two Regular Dragons in the same blue are very hard to tell apart. That is good for a collector and bad for a pair of brothers.
Different sizes read as different value. Children notice when one piece is bigger. A 3 inch Large next to a 2 inch Regular looks like a reward for one child, even when the reason was age.
One clear difference is enough. Change the color or change the animal, and keep the size and price the same. Each child gets something that is visibly theirs, and the set still looks like it belongs together.
Same Animal, Different Colors: The Easiest Matching Toys for Siblings
This is the match most families choose. Every child gets the same creature, and each one is printed in that child's color.
It suits children close in age. When siblings play together, the same design means the same joints and the same moves. Nobody's dragon bends further than anyone else's.
It works on the classic ladder. Most of our animals, including the Dragon, the Axolotl and the Cat, come in Micro (1 inch) for $1, Mini (1.5 inches) for $1.75, Regular (2 inches) for $2.75, Large (3 inches) for $6, X-Large (6 inches) for $15, and a Keychain size for $7. Two Regular Dragons in two colors cost $5.50.
Pick each child's favorite color. Type it in the Custom color box on the product page, one piece at a time. If a child already has a color they use for a cup or a backpack, use that one, and the toy will be easy to sort for years.
Keep the colors far apart. Red and orange, or two shades of blue, can look alike in a dim room or a toy bin. Choose colors that a younger child could name without help, such as red, blue, green and purple.
Same Color, Different Animals: For Siblings Who Want Their Own Creature
Some children care more about the animal than the color. One wants a dragon, one wants an axolotl, and one wants a cat. Printing all three in one shared color turns three separate gifts into a set.
It suits siblings with strong favorites. Each child picks a creature from the full catalog. The shared color tells everyone the three pieces arrived together.
Keep the animals on the same size menu. A Dragon, an Axolotl and a Cat are all on the classic ladder, so an X-Large of each is 6 inches and $15. Three of them come to $45, which is over the free shipping line.
Choose a family color. Some families use the same color every year, so each new piece joins the set on the shelf. A single solid color works better here than a mix, because the animals already supply the difference.
Siblings of Different Ages Need a Different Plan
A four-year-old and a ten-year-old do not need the same toy, but they still compare what they got. Age changes the size you can safely choose, so it helps to plan around the youngest child first.
Start with the youngest. Our flexis are not intended for children under 3. Micro and Mini pieces are small enough to be a choking risk, so for a preschooler choose Regular (2 inches) or larger.
Match the size up, not down. If the youngest needs a Regular, give the older child a Regular too, in their own color. That keeps the two pieces equal in size and price.
Let the older child have a different design, not a bigger one. An older child may want something more detailed. Our skeleton dinosaurs in the dinos collection come in Baby, Regular and XL, with the Baby at $5. A younger sibling might get a $5 Crystal Dragon Tadling from the dragons collection at the same price. The two pieces look different, but neither child got more.
Keep small pieces for the older child's own space. If an older child wants Micros to collect, keep them on their shelf or desk rather than in a shared toy bin a younger sibling can reach.
Keep the Set Fair by Price as Well as by Look
Children rarely know prices, but they can tell when one gift took more effort. Matching by price is how you keep a set fair when the pieces are not identical.
Same size is not always the same price. Most classic-ladder animals share one price list, but a few differ. The Angry T-Rex Mini is $2 rather than $1.75, and its Large is $7 rather than $6. Check each product page before you assume two designs cost the same.
Some designs only come in one size. The Mini Cat is a single size at $7, or $8 with a keychain ring. It pairs well with a $7 Keychain-size Dragon or Axolotl, since both end up on a bag or a set of keys.
Use price bands to pair pieces. At $5 you can pair a skeleton dinosaur Baby with a Tadling. At $15 you can pair any two classic X-Large animals. Pieces in the same band feel like the same kind of gift.
Rainbow and Surprise Me!! Do Not Make a Matched Pair
Two color options on our product pages are built to be different every time. They are good choices for a single gift, but a poor choice for a matched set.
Rainbow - Will Vary changes color along the spool. Where the color shifts depends on where on the spool the print starts, so two rainbow pieces never come out the same. If you order two rainbow dragons, one may lean blue and the other red.
Surprise Me!! means we choose the color. Two Surprise Me!! pieces in one order are not promised to match, so you cannot plan a set around them.
Single colors match best. If the set depends on color, choose Single and type the color you want in the Custom color box. Dual colors also work when you name both colors for every piece.
How to Order a Sibling Set in One Cart
A sibling set is simple to order once you know that each piece is its own line in the cart.
Add each piece separately. Choose the size, type the color in the Custom color box, and add it to the cart. Then go back to the product page and repeat for the next child. Each piece keeps its own color note.
Write the colors the same way each time. If you want three pieces in one shared color, type the same word on all three, such as "purple". Writing "purple" on one and "violet" on another leaves us guessing whether you meant two shades.
Put everyone's pieces in one order. Orders of $35 or more ship free by Economy within the United States, and orders under $35 pay $3.99. One order for every child is the easiest way to reach the free shipping line.
Plan for printing time. Every piece is printed to order. Orders are printed, inspected and shipped within 1 to 3 business days, and custom colors that need a filament change can take longer. USPS transit usually takes 2 to 5 business days after that.
Common Questions About Matching Toys for Siblings
Can you print two pieces in exactly the same color?
Yes, in a single color. Two pieces printed in the same solid color look the same. Rainbow - Will Vary pieces never match exactly.
What if the color I asked for is not available?
We contact you before printing with the closest match. If you are matching a set, tell us whether you would rather change every piece to the new color or keep the set as close as possible.
Can I add a matching piece for a new sibling later?
Yes. Order the same design and size, and type the same color name you used before. Solid colors are the easiest to match on a later order.
Can we pick up a sibling set instead of shipping it?
Yes. Choose Pickup at checkout to collect in Como, Texas, or order online and email us to arrange pickup at our Canton Trade Days booth, 4268/4269. The next shows are October 29 to November 1 and December 3 to 6, listed on our events page.
Match Toys for Siblings by Size and Price, Then Make Each One Theirs
The simplest rule for matching toys for siblings is to keep size and price equal, then change one thing each child can see. Same animal in different colors suits children close in age. Different animals in one color suits children with strong favorites. For siblings of different ages, plan around the youngest and give the older child a different design rather than a bigger one.
Choose single colors when the match matters, write each color clearly, and put every child's piece in one order so the set arrives together.
At Cosmic 3D Creations, every flexi is printed to order in Como, Texas, in the colors you type into the Custom color box, and each piece is checked joint by joint before it is packed. If you would like the children to choose their own colors in person, bring them to our Canton Trade Days booth, or order online and pick up the set there.
