This guide is for anyone who wants a fox on the desk, a hedgehog in a pocket or a whole forest on a bedroom shelf. We print 3D printed woodland animals in two very different ways: a classic Fox, Bear and Hedgehog that come in five or six sizes from a $1.00 Micro, and a group of one-size designs such as the Opossum, Mini Raccoon and Jackalope at $7.00 each. Every one bends, curls and holds a pose.
Below we go through each animal with the sizes and prices from its product page, then show what a set costs. If you want animals that look right side by side, pick them all from the classic size menu, because a Regular fox, bear and hedgehog all come out 2 inches long.
The 3D Printed Woodland Animals in Our Catalog
Each animal is printed in place as one piece of premium PLA. The joints form on the print plate with a small gap between segments, so nothing is glued or snapped together. It comes off the printer already able to move.
The woodland animals fall into two groups by how you order them.
The classic size menu runs Micro (1 inch), Mini (1.5 inch), Regular (2 inch), Large (3 inch) and X-Large (6 inch), usually with a Keychain size as well. The Fox, Bear, Hedgehog, Otter and Mouse all have a listing on this menu.
The one-size designs have no size choice at all. Most have a Keychain menu with two answers: No for the figure alone at $7.00, or Yes at $8.00 to add a ring. The Opossum, Mini Raccoon, Fruit Bat, Otter, Mouse and Grey Bunny work this way. The Jackalope has no options and costs $7.00.
Yes, the Otter and the Mouse each appear twice. We explain why further down.
Our woodland critters collection also holds the Spider, Tarantula, Crescent Gecko, Tree Frog and two Capybaras. Our bug and reptile guides cover the first four, and this post sticks to the furry animals of the forest.
Fox, Bear and Hedgehog: The Classic Woodland Trio
These three are the core of a woodland set. They share sizes and nearly share prices, so you can order all three in one size and they will match.
The Fox
The Fox has ball-and-socket style joints along its whole length. You can curl it into a ball, straighten it out or leave it posed on a shelf. Prices are Micro $1.00, Mini $1.75, Regular $2.75, Large $6.00, X-Large $15.00 and Keychain $7.00.
The Bear
The Bear is the woodland heavyweight. It can sit up, curl and hold a pose, and it costs the same as the Fox at every size, Keychain included. If you already own our Panda or Polar Bear, the Bear uses the same size menu and stands well beside them.
The Hedgehog
The Hedgehog curls into a ball the way a real one does, then unrolls. The spiky back is printed as texture, rough enough to look right and smooth enough to roll in your hand. Two things set it apart from the Fox and Bear.
It has five sizes, not six. There is no Keychain size on the Hedgehog.
The Large costs $7.00 rather than $6.00. Micro, Mini, Regular and X-Large are the same as the Fox.
The Otter and the Mouse Come in Two Versions
Both animals have two separate listings, and they are different designs, not the same file at different sizes.
The six-size Otter is long and sleek, built to bend and curl like an otter rolling in water. It uses the classic menu from a $1.00 Micro to a $15.00 X-Large, with a $7.00 Keychain.
The one-size Otter is drawn standing up in a lively pose with an expressive face. It costs $7.00, or $8.00 with a ring, and the ring version is the one most people clip to a bag.
The six-size Mouse is a barn mouse with a long tail you can curl. It also sits on the classic menu at the same prices as the Otter.
The one-size Mouse is a field mouse with rounded ears, small enough to hide in a fist. It is $7.00, or $8.00 with a ring.
The six-size Otter is filed with our Pocket Friends and the six-size Mouse with our farm animals, so search the site by name if you cannot see them in the woodland collection. If you want a set that matches the Fox and Bear, choose the six-size listings.
Opossum, Raccoon and Fruit Bat: The Night Animals
These three are one-size designs at $7.00, or $8.00 with a ring. Each one was drawn for a single size, so there is no menu to read before you order.
The Opossum is about 4 inches long, and the tail is where the fun is. You can curl it, hook it over a finger or lay the whole animal on its side in the classic playing-dead pose.
The Mini Raccoon is also about 4 inches long. It keeps the nosy look of a real raccoon at a size that fits in a jacket pocket. It is listed with our Pocket Friends rather than in the woodland collection.
The Fruit Bat has wide wings that fold in and stretch out, and a friendly face rather than a spooky one. You can hang it upside down from a finger. We wrote about it in our Halloween post, but it works on a woodland shelf all year.
Together these three make a small set with a theme: animals that come out after dark. Without rings, the three cost $21.00. With rings on all three, they cost $24.00.
The Jackalope and the Woodland Bunnies
The Jackalope is a jackrabbit with antlers. It comes in one version at $7.00 with no size or keychain choice, so ordering it is quick: type a color and add it to the cart.
Three bunnies also live in the woodland collection.
The Tall Bunny is a long rabbit that can stand on a shelf or fold up in a pocket. It uses the classic six-size menu, with the Keychain at $7.00.
The Bow Bunny wears a little bow and comes in five sizes, with no Keychain. Its size menu says White, and the shade of white varies a little from print to print.
The Grey Bunny sits in a calm seated pose. It is a one-size design at $7.00, or $8.00 with a ring.
What a Set of 3D Printed Woodland Animals Costs
Here is what the five classic-menu animals (Fox, Bear, Hedgehog, six-size Otter and six-size Mouse) cost together at each size.
Five Micros (1 inch) cost $5.00. That is a full woodland set for a party favor bag or a small pocket.
Five Regulars (2 inch) cost $13.75. This is the size we suggest for a child's play set: big enough to hold and flex, small enough to keep in a box.
Five Larges (3 inch) cost $31.00, because the Hedgehog is $7.00 at this size. That is under our $35.00 free shipping line, so Economy shipping would be $3.99. Adding one $7.00 Opossum brings the order to $38.00 and the Economy shipping is then free.
Five X-Larges (6 inch) cost $75.00. At this size, a fox, a bear and a hedgehog make a real centerpiece for a shelf or a mantel.
For a mixed shelf, one X-Large Bear at $15.00 with a Large Fox, a Large Hedgehog and the Opossum with a ring comes to $36.00 and ships free by Economy.
Colors for Woodland Animals: Natural Coats or Bright
Every product page has a Custom color box above Add to cart. Type the color you want there. It costs nothing extra. If we are out of that shade when we reach your order, we message you with the closest match.
For a realistic set, ask for the animal's own colors: orange for the Fox, brown for the Bear, grey for the Opossum and the Raccoon. These read clearly on a shelf, especially at Large and X-Large.
For a child's set, give each animal its own bright color. A blue fox and a yellow bear are easy to tell apart and easy to find in a toy bin.
For the Hedgehog, the size menu is labeled "Size - Color Varies", so read the color note on its product page before you order. If you want a specific color, type it in the Custom color box.
Common Questions About 3D Printed Woodland Animals
Which woodland animal curls up best?
The Hedgehog, because it was designed to roll into a ball and unroll again. The Fox also curls into a ball. On the Opossum, it is the long tail that curls, and it hooks neatly over a finger.
How big are the one-size animals?
The Opossum and the Mini Raccoon are about 4 inches long, which puts them between a Large and an X-Large on the classic menu. The other one-size product pages do not list a measurement. If size matters for your plan, ask us through our contact page and we will measure one for you.
Are they safe for a young child?
Regular (2 inch) and Large (3 inch) pieces are big enough for a small child to grab and flex. Micro and Mini pieces are a choking risk, so keep them away from children who still put things in their mouths.
Which ones work as a keychain?
The Fox, Bear, six-size Otter, six-size Mouse and Tall Bunny have a Keychain size on their menus. The one-size designs take a ring if you choose Yes on the Keychain menu. The Hedgehog, Bow Bunny and Jackalope have no ring option. Our keychain collection has more designs made for a ring.
Pick 3D Printed Woodland Animals by How They Will Be Handled
For play, choose the classic Fox, Bear and Hedgehog at Regular or Large, in colors a child can tell apart. For a pocket or a bag, the one-size Opossum, Mini Raccoon and Otter with a ring are the ones that travel. For a shelf, an X-Large Bear or Fox gives the set height, with the smaller animals around it.
Whichever you pick, check the inches in the size menu first. Our 3D printed woodland animals come in a classic menu and a one-size format, and the inches tell you how they will look together.
At Cosmic 3D Creations, every fox, bear, hedgehog and opossum is printed to order in Como, Texas, in the color you ask for, and flexed joint by joint before it is packed. You can order online and pick up at our Canton Trade Days booth, Booth 4268 and 4269. We are there through today, October 4, and back October 29 to November 1, and the rest of the dates are on our events page.
