3D Printed Playsets: Eight Tiny Scenes With Their Own Figures, $25 Each

Tiny Playsets for Every Shelf: blog cover from Cosmic 3D Creations with the Fish Tank, Dino and Christmas Dachshund playsets on a wooden bookshelf

A 3D printed playset is a tiny scene on its own base, with the animals that live in it included. We now print eight of them: a Highland Cow farm, a guinea pig cage, an Armadillo desert, a fish tank, a watermelon pool for two hippos, a dinosaur park, a graveyard and a Christmas living room with two dachshunds. Every one is $25, and the price covers everything in the photo.

This post is for parents looking for a gift that comes with a story already built in, collectors who want a small scene for a shelf or desk, and anyone who has met our flexi toys and wants a place to put them. It covers what is in each set, how colors work, what an order costs with shipping, and how to choose. Pick a playset by the animal the person already loves, because the scene, the figures and the price are fixed, and the animal is the only real choice.

What a 3D Printed Playset Is

Each playset is a small printed base with a backdrop, props and figures, all printed in premium PLA. The base sets the place: grass for the farm, sand for the desert, a wood floor for the Christmas room. The props fill it in, and the animals stand inside it.

The figures are separate pieces. In our photos, the animals stand on the base rather than being printed into it, so they can be lifted out, moved around the scene or played with on their own. The dinosaurs and dachshunds have the same segmented bodies as our flexi toys.

There is one option. Each 3D printed playset is a single listing at $25, with no size menu and no color menu. The product pages do not give inch measurements; each one is sized as a small desk or shelf piece.

All eight are in our Playsets collection, which is the quickest way to see them side by side.

Three Playsets for Animal Lovers: Highland Cow, Guinea Pig and Armadillo

The Highland Cow Playset

This one is a whole little farm. A farmhouse with a blue scalloped roof, arched windows and a smoking chimney sits at the back, with a hanging sign by the door. Out front, a shaggy highland cow and a brown and white spotted cow stand by a hay bale, a stone path crosses the grass, a wooden fence runs along the side, and a bench holds four milk bottles.

The Guinea Pig Playset

A tiny pink cage with a slatted roof and brown bedding holds an exercise wheel with a paw print, a water bottle, a little bed and a food bowl. Three guinea pigs come with it: one black, white and brown, one brown and white, and one all brown. It is a different product from our older Guinea Pig with House, which is sold by set size and has its own color menu.

The Armadillo Playset

This is a small slice of Texas desert. A bare brown tree stands beside a big sandstone rock, two saguaro cacti and two round barrel cacti dot the sand, one with a red flower on top, and footprints and boulders are scattered around. Two armadillos live here, a small dark brown one on the rock and a bigger brown one walking past the cacti. For anyone who grew up in Texas, or moved away from it, this is the one to send.

Two Water Scenes: The Fish Tank and the Watermelon Hippo

The Fish Tank Playset is an open-frame aquarium with a wavy blue water backdrop. On the sandy floor sit a sunken log, rocks, pink coral and green seaweed, with three little fish among them: a blue fish, a yellow fish and an orange and white clownfish. It suits a child who wants a fish and is not ready for one, or an adult who misses the tank they used to keep. There is no water to change.

The Watermelon Hippo Playset is a summer pool party. A big gray hippo lounges in a round pool shaped like a watermelon rind, with slices floating around it, while a baby hippo waits at the edge. Behind them are a wooden fruit stand with a leafy roof, a leaning palm tree and a stool holding half a watermelon. Both hippos are included. It is a bright, cheerful piece for the middle of winter.

The Dino Playset and the Graveyard Playset

The Dino Playset is a fenced dinosaur park on a green base. Gray rail fences run along both sides, two palm trees lean over a sandy patch stamped with footprints, and a brown mountain backdrop rises behind a few rocks. Two baby dinosaurs roam inside, a dark green one with white spikes and a bright lime green one with a spotted head. It is the easiest pick for a child who already has a dinosaur shelf, since the park gives the rest of the herd somewhere to visit.

The Graveyard Playset is the friendliest graveyard we know. A twisted dead tree leans over two gray tombstones, a stone archway wears a big skull on top, and small skulls, bones and rocks are scattered across the sand. A small skeleton stands in the middle.

The ghosts are a surprise. Each Graveyard set comes with the skeleton and three little ghosts. The photo shows six ghost styles: the ghost with a pumpkin, the vampire ghost with a pumpkin, the ghost with a bow, the vampire ghost with a bow tie, the plain ghost and the pumpkin hat ghost. We pick three of them at random for your set, so no two graveyards are quite the same.

Halloween is two days away, so an order placed today will not arrive in time for October 31. The Graveyard is spooky in a cute way, though, and plenty of people keep a scene like this out all year.

The Christmas Dachshund Playset Is the Holiday Pick

This is a tiny holiday living room on a wood-floor base. A brick fireplace sits against the wall with two red stockings on the mantel, candles on each side and a green wreath above. A Christmas tree with red ornaments and a gold star stands beside it, with two wrapped red and white presents underneath.

Two dachshunds come with it. One wears a Santa hat and a red sweater and curls up in a red dog bed by the fire. The second is a plain brown dachshund that can sit by the presents or wander off the base.

It works as a Christmas decoration for a mantel or desk, and as a gift for anyone with a wiener dog at home. It also pairs well with our other dachshunds, covered in the cost section below.

Colors: Why Each 3D Printed Playset Comes as Shown

Most of what we print has a Custom color box on the product page, where you can ask for any color you like. Playsets do not. Each 3D printed playset is printed in the colors shown in its photo.

The colors are part of the scene. A playset uses many colors across a lot of small pieces: the coral and seaweed in the fish tank, the stockings and candles on the mantel, the cacti and rock in the desert. The colors are what make the scene read as a farm or an aquarium at a glance, so we print them the way the design was meant to look.

Small differences can happen. As with everything we print, actual shades may vary slightly from the photo, and a color may be substituted if one runs out. If you need to know before ordering, send us a message and we will tell you what we have on hand.

If you want a figure in a color of your own choosing, buy a matching flexi toy alongside the playset and type the color into its Custom color box. The next section has a few pairings.

What a 3D Printed Playset Costs With Shipping

A single playset is $25. Economy shipping is free on orders over $35 and $3.99 below that, so one playset on its own comes to $28.99. Adding $10 or more of other items brings the order to free shipping, and the extra piece usually adds more to the gift than the shipping would.

Christmas Dachshund Playset and a dachshund. Add our one-size Dachshund at $12 for $37, shipped free. That is three dachshunds for the mantel.

Highland Cow Playset and a bigger cow. Add the Big Highland Cow at $12 for $37. The playset holds the farm, and the bigger cow stands beside it.

Dino Playset and two more dinosaurs. Add a Spiky Triceratops at $7 and a Baby Skeleton Triceratops at $5 for $37, so the park has a living dinosaur and a fossil one.

Graveyard Playset and two skeletons. Add the Bowtie Skeleton at $7 and a Baby Skeleton Raptor at $5 for $37.

Two playsets. Any two come to $50 and ship free. The Fish Tank and the Watermelon Hippo make a natural water pair, and the Highland Cow and the Armadillo make a country pair.

Common Questions About a 3D Printed Playset

Is a 3D printed playset a toy or a decoration?

Both. The figures come off the base, so a child can move them around and make up stories, and the whole scene sits neatly on a shelf when play is over. The small props are the part to watch, since they are easy to lose on a carpet.

What age is a playset for?

Each playset has small parts, so it is not for children under 3. It is also not a chew toy for pets. For older children and adults it is a good fit, and the Watermelon Hippo's fruit is plastic, for play and display only.

Can I choose which ghosts come in the Graveyard Playset?

No. We choose three of the six ghost styles at random, which is part of the fun of opening it.

How should I care for a playset?

Wipe it with a soft cloth and keep it out of hot cars and direct sun, since PLA softens above about 140°F. A windowsill in summer is the main place to avoid.

Pick a 3D Printed Playset by the Animal They Love

Every 3D printed playset is the same price, comes in the colors shown and includes every figure in the photo. That leaves one decision: whose animal is it? Cow lovers get the farm, small pet owners get the guinea pig cage, Texans get the armadillos, and dachshund families get the Christmas room.

If you want to pick one up in person, the next Canton Trade Days show after this weekend runs December 3 to 6. Message us before you order to arrange booth pickup, and check our event dates for the full schedule.

At Cosmic 3D Creations, every playset is printed to order in Como, Texas, after you buy it. We check each piece before it ships, and orders leave within 1 to 3 business days. If something arrives broken, tell us and we will make it right.
