We have added a new kind of fidget to the shop this month. A clicker fidget toy is a small 3D printed scene, like a bookshelf, a coffee shop or a packed lunch, that clicks every time you fidget with it. Ten designs are live now, priced from $10 to $15, and each one is printed to order in premium PLA in Como, Texas.
This guide is for anyone deciding between them, or deciding whether a clicker or one of our flexi animals suits the person they are buying for. We walk through the three bookshelves, the two shops and the greenhouse, the four miniature food designs, what a set costs, and where a clicker works better or worse than a flexi. Pick a clicker fidget toy by the theme the person already loves, books, coffee, plants or lunchboxes, then pick the style on the product page.
What a Clicker Fidget Toy Is, and How It Differs From a Flexi
Our flexi animals bend at printed joints and move silently. A clicker fidget toy works the other way around. It holds its shape, and the fidgeting is in the click itself. That makes it a different tool for busy hands.
A clicker makes a sound. The click is the point, so it is satisfying at a desk at home and less welcome in a quiet classroom or a library. If silence matters, a flexi is still the better pick, and our post on why an articulated fidget toy helps with quiet fidgeting covers that side.
A clicker is also a display piece. Every design is a tiny scene with little printed objects inside: books, crystals, cupcakes, sandwiches. Between clicks it sits on a desk or shelf and looks like a miniature.
The colors are part of the design. Each clicker is printed in the colors shown in its photo, with the food, plants and books in their own natural shades. The Lunch Kit is the one design with a color menu, covered below.
All ten sit in our Misc collection alongside our other one-off designs. The product pages do not list inch sizes, so read each one as a desk-sized miniature rather than a measured piece.
Three Bookshelves: Light Brown, Dark Brown and Gothic
The bookshelves are the most detailed clickers we print. Each one comes in two styles, and both styles are shown in the product photo, so you can see exactly which tiny objects you are choosing.
The Light Brown Bookshelf, $10
An arched shelf in a warm light wood tone, trimmed with white moons and swirls across the top. Crystal holds blue crystals, a crystal ball, purple spotted mushrooms and a row of books. Clock holds a little clock, a monstera plant, a stack of books and a deer plaque. It suits a nightstand or a reader who likes a cozy corner.
The Dark Brown Bookshelf, $10
A curved-top shelf in a rich dark wood tone with leafy trim. Dragon has a smiling mushroom, a mortar and pestle with herbs, a little green dragon asleep on a stack of books and a teal frog. Fox has a crystal ball, a fox curled up on books, a basket of mushrooms and a gnome plaque. This is the cottage pick, and the Dragon style is an easy gift for someone who already collects our dragons.
The Gothic Bookshelf, $12
A black shelf shaped like a cathedral arch, with rose window cutouts at the top and four cubbies below. Chest has a birdcage, a framed ribcage, melted candles and books with a gargoyle bookend. Heart has framed butterflies, two lanterns, a red heart held in a pair of hands and books with a gargoyle bookend. It fits anyone who keeps a little Halloween on the shelf all year.
Two Tiny Shops and a Greenhouse
These three are buildings rather than shelves. They read from across a room, which makes them good on a desk where people walk past.
The Book Shop, $12, has a brown tiled roof, a "Book Shop" sign, a green arched door and a window shelf full of little books, including one with a crescent moon on the cover. It comes in one style, exactly as pictured. Readers, teachers and librarians are the obvious match.
The Coffee Shop is a mint green storefront with a "coffee shop" sign, a wood-tone door and a window stacked with little cups and a blue espresso machine. It is the one clicker where the style changes the price: Without Awning is $12, and With Awning adds a pink and white striped awning over the window for $15.
The Greenhouse, $10, is a tan greenhouse with a peaked lattice roof and two shelves holding four potted plants: a dotted cactus, a spotted begonia, a pink nerve plant and a teal variegated plant. It is a plant that needs no watering, which is the whole joke for anyone with a windowsill full of real ones.
Four Miniature Food Designs, From a Bakery Box to a Retro Lunchbox
Four of the ten are miniature food. The food is printed plastic, made for clicking and display, so it is not for eating and not for a pet to chew.
The Bakery Box, $10, is a white pastry box with a windowed lid and four treats inside. Choose Donuts for frosted and sprinkled donuts and a twisted cruller, Cakes for four frosted cupcakes, or Pastries for a cinnamon roll, a pink concha, a sprinkle donut and a sugar bun. All three cost the same.
The Picnic Basket, $12, is a woven tan basket of snacks. With Bread Loaf holds cheese, grapes and a crusty loaf. Without Bread Loaf swaps the loaf for deviled eggs and a croissant alongside the grapes and cheese. Same price either way.
The Lunch Kit, $10, is a snack tray with little compartments, modeled on the lunch trays kids know. Pick one of five lunches: Turkey with Cookie, Ham with Cookie, Ham with Crackers, Turkey with Crackers, or Pizza. Then pick a Red, Clear, Blue, Pink or Purple tray. Each tray has a small loop in the corner, so the Lunch Kit can come with a keychain ring at no extra charge. It is the only clicker built to clip onto a backpack.
The Retro Lunchbox, $15, is a hinged lunchbox with a cream carry handle and its own tiny thermos. Choose a Green Dino box, with a long-neck dinosaur and palm trees on the lid, or a Purple Flower box, with a smiling daisy on wavy pink and yellow. Then choose Dino Nuggets or Pizza for the lunch inside. Any combination is $15.
What Clicker Fidget Toys Cost, Set by Set
Every clicker is one fixed price per style, from $10 to $15. Orders of $35 or more ship free by Economy, and orders below that pay $3.99. Here are three sets that work as gifts.
The reader's shelf is the Book Shop ($12), the Gothic Bookshelf ($12) and the Light Brown Bookshelf ($10). That comes to $34. Add a $1 Micro flexi, such as the new Neon Stripe Axolotl, and the order reaches $35 and ships free.
The lunch table is the Retro Lunchbox ($15), a Lunch Kit ($10) and a Bakery Box ($10). That is exactly $35, so it ships free as it stands.
The cottage corner is the Greenhouse ($10), the Dark Brown Bookshelf ($10) and the Picnic Basket ($12), for $32. A Large Neon Stripe Axolotl at $6 brings it to $38 with free shipping.
For a single gift, any one clicker fits a $10 or $15 limit. The Coffee Shop With Awning is the top of the range at $15. One of every design, choosing the lower price where there is one, comes to $113.
Who a Clicker Fidget Toy Suits, and When a Flexi Is Better
A clicker and a flexi solve the same problem, restless hands, in different ways. Choosing the right one depends on where it will be used and who will hold it.
Choose a clicker for a desk at home or a personal office. The click is part of the fun, and the scene earns its spot on the shelf. The bookshelves, shops and greenhouse are especially good here.
Choose a clicker for a collector of miniatures. Someone who loves tiny food, dollhouse furniture or cozy little rooms will treat these as a collection. The food designs and bookshelves each come in several styles, which gives them room to grow.
Choose a flexi for quiet rooms. In a classroom, a library, a meeting or a long car ride with a sleeping baby, a silent flexi is kinder to everyone nearby.
Choose a flexi for rough handling. A flexi is built to bend and wiggle. A clicker is a detailed scene with small printed pieces, so it suits older children and adults who will click it rather than toss it.
Many people end up with both: a clicker on the desk and a flexi in the pocket.
Common Questions About Clicker Fidget Toys
Are clicker fidget toys loud?
They make a click you can hear, because the click is what they are for. They are fine at a desk at home, but in a quiet classroom or a shared office we would suggest a silent flexi instead.
Can I choose the colors on a clicker?
The clickers are printed in the colors shown in their photos. The Lunch Kit is the exception, with five tray colors to choose from. If you have a color question about any other design, message us before you order.
How fast will a clicker fidget toy ship?
Each one is printed after you order, checked, and shipped within 1 to 3 business days. Economy shipping is free on orders of $35 or more.
Can I pick one up at Canton Trade Days?
Yes. Our booth is in Pavilion 4000, Booth 4268/4269, and the next show runs October 29 to November 1. Message us before you order so we can bring it to the booth. All show dates are on our events page.
Pick a Clicker Fidget Toy by Theme, Then Style
The easiest way to choose is to start with what the person already loves. Readers get a bookshelf or the Book Shop, coffee drinkers get the Coffee Shop, plant people get the Greenhouse, and anyone who remembers their school lunchbox gets the Lunch Kit or the Retro Lunchbox. Then pick the style from the photo, since every option is shown.
Keep in mind the one real trade-off. A clicker fidget toy is made to be heard and seen, while a flexi is made to be quiet and handled. Pick the one that fits the room it will live in.
At Cosmic 3D Creations, every clicker is printed to order in premium PLA by our family in Como, Texas, checked piece by piece, and shipped within 1 to 3 business days. If you would rather see them in person, come find us at the Canton Trade Days booth, and message us before you order if you want to pick one up there.
