A Halloween playset is a tiny spooky scene you can set on a shelf and play with: a base, a few props and the figures that live there. Ours is the Graveyard Playset, and this guide is for anyone who wants a small haunted corner that does not take over the house, from kids who like to make up ghost stories to grown-ups who keep a little Halloween out all year.
We cover what comes in the set, how the random ghosts work, which of our spooky flexis fit next to it, and what a full scene costs. Start with the $25 Graveyard Playset, then add one or two $7 neighbors, and you have a complete haunted scene for under $40.
What Comes in the Graveyard Playset
The Graveyard Playset is $25 and sits on its own sandy base. Everything in it is printed to order in premium PLA.
The setting is a twisted dead tree that leans over the scene, two gray tombstones marked R.I.P., and a stone archway with a big skull on top. Little skulls, bones and rocks are scattered across the ground.
The figures are one small skeleton and three little ghosts. The skeleton stands in the middle of the graveyard, ready to greet visitors, and the ghosts can sit anywhere on the base or wander off it.
The colors are the ones in the photo. Playsets do not have a Custom color box, because the colors are part of the design.
How the Three Random Ghosts Work
The Graveyard Playset photo shows six ghost styles, and every set comes with three of them, picked at random. That means no two graveyards are quite the same.
The six styles are the ghost holding a pumpkin, the vampire ghost holding a pumpkin, the ghost with a bow, the vampire ghost with a bow tie, the plain ghost and the ghost wearing a pumpkin hat.
Buying two sets is a fun way to collect more of the styles. Two kids who each get a set can compare who got which ghosts, and trade if they want to.
If you need specific ghosts for a gift, message us before you order and ask. We will tell you plainly what we can do.
Spooky Neighbors to Add to a Halloween Playset
The playset is a complete scene on its own, but a few extra figures make it feel busier and more lived in. These are the spooky designs that sit at the same scale and price point.
The Bowtie Skeleton is a dressed-up skeleton with a bow tie, $7, or $8 with a keychain ring. It pairs well with the playset's own skeleton, like a host and a guest.
The Mummy comes on our six-size menu, from a $1 Micro (1 in) to a $15 X-Large (6 in). A Mini or Regular Mummy can shuffle out from behind the tombstones without crowding the scene.
The Tarantula is $7, or $8 with a keychain ring. Set it on the dead tree or by the archway for a little jump scare.
The Fruit Bat and the Mini Bat are each $7, or $8 with a keychain ring. Perch one on a tombstone or let it hang near the tree.
The Little Werewolf and Little Moth Man are also $7, or $8 with a keychain ring, if your graveyard needs a creature that is not a ghost or a skeleton.
Building a Tiny Haunted Scene on a Shelf
A Halloween playset works best when it has a little room around it. A shelf, a mantel corner or the top of a bookcase all work.
Keep the base level. A flat surface keeps the tree and the archway standing straight and stops small figures from tipping.
Put tall pieces at the back. The tree and the archway already stand behind the tombstones, so add taller neighbors, like a Regular Mummy, behind smaller ones.
Leave a path. An open strip of ground through the middle lets the skeleton and ghosts look like they are heading somewhere, which makes the scene feel like a story.
Group the ghosts. Three ghosts clustered near the archway read as a crowd. Spread out, they read as a quiet graveyard. Both look good, so try each.
Story Games With a Halloween Playset
A playset is not only for display. The figures come off the base, so kids can move them around and make up stories.
Who lives here? Give each ghost a name and a reason it haunts the graveyard. The vampire ghost with a bow tie makes a good boss of the graveyard.
The new neighbor. Add one figure, like the Bowtie Skeleton or the Tarantula, and ask how the ghosts welcome it.
Hide and seek. One person hides a small ghost or bat somewhere in the scene, and the other finds it. A Micro flexi, at 1 inch, is small enough to tuck behind a tombstone.
These games keep working after October 31, which is part of why a playset makes more sense than a decoration you pack away.
Keeping a Halloween Playset Out After October 31
Most Halloween decorations go back in a bin on November 1. A Halloween playset is small enough that a lot of people leave it out, and it is easy to care for wherever it lives.
Keep it out of direct sun. A windowsill that gets afternoon sun can fade colors over time and gets warmer than you might expect.
Mind the heat. PLA softens above about 140°F, so a hot car, a dashboard or a spot right next to a heater is not a good home for the tree or the archway.
Dust it gently. A soft, dry paintbrush gets into the bones, rocks and tombstone lettering without knocking anything over. Our care guide covers cleaning in more detail.
If you do pack it away, put the small figures in a zip bag so the ghosts and the skeleton do not get lost, and wrap the tree in tissue so its branches are not bent under heavier things.
Who a Graveyard Playset Suits as a Gift
A Halloween playset is an easy gift because it is a complete thing in one box. Nobody has to collect pieces to make it work.
Kids who love spooky stories get a ready-made stage. The figures come off the base, so the scene changes every time they play.
Collectors of spooky-cute things get a display piece with a surprise built in, since the three ghosts in each set are picked at random.
Anyone with an October birthday gets a gift that fits the season and keeps working the rest of the year.
Teachers and librarians who decorate a reading corner for fall can set it on a shelf where kids can look without handling the small parts.
Because it has small parts, it is not a gift for a child under 3, and it is best kept away from pets that like to chew.

Common Questions About a Halloween Playset
Can I choose which ghosts come in my Graveyard Playset?
Each set comes with three ghosts picked at random from the six styles in the photo. If you need particular ghosts, message us before you order and ask.
Can I order the Graveyard Playset in different colors?
No. Playsets come in the colors shown, so they do not have a Custom color box.
Is a Halloween playset safe for young kids?
It has small parts, so it is not for children under 3, and it is not a chew toy for pets. Keep it out of a hot car, since PLA softens above about 140°F.
Is it only for Halloween?
No. A spooky-cute scene can stay out all year, and the figures work for story games any time.
